Why use this calculator

Creators rarely earn from one source. Ads, memberships, tips, gifts and affiliate commission all pay differently, and each platform takes a different cut from each one. This calculator puts every income stream side by side, so you can see what you keep from each, the total, and which stream loses the most before it reaches you.

How to use it

  • Pick the period your figures cover.
  • Add a row for each income stream: pick the platform and the income type, then enter the amount.
  • For figures from your dashboard, keep "Paid to me". Switch to the other option only when you know what fans or advertisers paid before the platform's cut.

Frequently Asked Questions

QWhich platforms pay creators in more than one way?
YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch and Kick all pay creators through several income types, and each type has its own cut. For example, YouTube keeps 45% of long-form ad revenue but 30% of memberships, and Twitch keeps 50% of a standard subscription but 45% of ad revenue.
QHow much does YouTube take from memberships and Super Chats?
Creators get 70% of membership and Super Chat revenue recognised by Google, after local sales tax and fees. For Super Chat and Super Stickers, iOS App Store fees come off before the 70%.
QHow much do Twitch streamers keep from subs and Bits?
The standard Twitch subscription split is 50/50. The Plus Program raises it to 60% or 70%. Bits pay 1 US cent each, and Twitch pays creators 55% of ad revenue.
QHow much is a Star worth on Instagram and Facebook?
Creators earn 1 US cent for each Star received on Facebook and for each Star sent as a Gift on Instagram Reels.
QWhat does TikTok take from LIVE Gifts and the Creator Rewards Program?
Under Scaled LIVE Rewards, creators earn up to 53% of the value of LIVE gifts, so TikTok keeps 47% or more. TikTok publishes no split for the Creator Rewards Program, so this calculator doesn't guess: enter what TikTok paid you. For Subscriptions, TikTok says creators get 70% after app-store fees, up to 90% with a bonus.
QWhy does the calculator ask what the platform paid me?
Most dashboards already show your share. Pick Paid to me for those numbers, so no cut is taken twice. Pick the other option only when you know what fans or advertisers paid before the platform's cut.
